Trotti participated in the design of the International Space Station habitability areas designing concepts for the galley / wardroom, hygiene, crew quarters, and health maintenance areas. Other design studies include the cupola, scientific windows, interior configuration of nodes, storage and restraint systems, etc. During the early design phases many full scale engineering and operating mock-ups were fabricated to test the designs. Diverse human factor research studies were performed such as minimal volume requirements, color studies, time sequence analyses, and others.
