We designed and build the first five prototype units of this revolutionary system focusing on the integration of technologies and operational human factors. Argus is a free-standing, automated system that decentralizes the inventory, management and dispensing of medication. It provides in every hospital floor instant access to scheduled, PRN and STAT medication from a formulary of up to 200 medications that are specific to a specific nursing unit; it eliminates medication losses; it reduces medication errors; it reduces the physical involvement of pharmacists in dispensing drugs.
